The 1971 born American lawyer and politician, Marco Rubio has served for a long time and hail from Florida. A senior senator, he has also been a Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives. His sharing of the photo garnered backlash from his peers and the public.
Senator Marco Rubio recently is facing much criticism after he shared screenshots from this Saturday’s Zoom call with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian President.
Although the senator said that his sharing of the photo bears no security risk whatsoever, the meeting participants were asked by the Ukrainian ambassador to not post pictures while the call was in progress. This violation has been facing criticism since then.
Senator Rubio insists Ukraine was mistaken about the level of the call and faces no threat from his posting. The call had 280 senators, house members, and other staff members present, and the senator shared the picture after the call had concluded.
Senator Steve Daines also shared a picture, for which he is also receiving similar criticism. Democratic Representative Dean Phillips called the sharing of the image ‘appalling and reckless ignorance’ from both the senators’ part.
Several other Democratic representatives also posted images of the said call. Volodymyr Zelenskyy also has been posting videos from the same room since the Russian invasion.
Senator Marco Rubio insisting and warning of “World War III” if no-fly zone gets implemented over Ukraine
A dire warning was given by the senator in other news if the western leaders go ahead and listen to the Ukrainian President’s pleas to impose a no-fly zone over Ukraine.
Talking of this, he said, “It means World War II.” He suggests that if implemented, it would drag the United States into World War III, the consequences for which would not in any way favor the country or the world.
He gave an interview to ABC and claimed many people don’t even fully grasp what the implementation of a no-fly zone really means. He says it has just become a phrase for everyone to use, and that means several dangerous things.
That means flying AWACS (fully stands for Airborne Warning And Control Systems) 24 hours a day, which means the willingness to shoot down and engage Russian airplanes in the sky.
That means, frankly, you can’t put those planes up there unless they’re willing to knock out the anti-aircraft systems that the Russians have deployed, and not just in Ukraine, but Russia and also in Belarus.
“So basically a no-fly zone, if people understand what it means, it means World War III. It means starting World War III,” He warned the interviewer and the world.
Senator Marco Rubio further added, “It’s not some rule you pass that everybody has to oblige by. It’s the willingness to shoot down the aircrafts of the Russian Federation, which is basically the beginning of World War III.”
The implementation of such a zone has been continuously requested by the Ukraine President. He has criticized NATO for delaying this decision as he states inaction in this regard means giving Russia a go-ahead to strike and continue to strike at his country.
“All the people who will die from this day will die because of you, as well,” Zelensky said. “Because of your weakness. Because of your disunity.”
